Our Vision: To build a movement of Christians dedicated to advancing the God-given dignity, equality, and leadership abilities of women and girls worldwide.
Through the Women and Girls Leading on Faith and Justice Initiative, Sojourners will help identify substantive changes still needed in church structure and pastoral education around women and girls and gender justice. By understanding and highlighting the existing deficiencies in support of and care for women in the church, Sojourners will then be able to push the faith community toward change in the way it ministers to the specific needs of women, creating space for wholeness for both women and men.
Through Sojourners’ expanded multimedia platforms and growing network of partnerships, we are able to lift up diverse women’s voices and male allies passionate about justice and who are motivated by their faith, in order to move the needle on key policy issues and theological frameworks. We are able to mobilize our own more than 200,000 online activists in all 50 states, including 60,000 pastors and congregational leaders.
We are focusing particularly on domestic violence, sexual violence more broadly, the gender lens of poverty, and human trafficking. This campaign also includes creating a network of faith leaders who will be trained and equipped to speak out publicly on these issues, with a special emphasis on including male faith leaders and allies.
