The Edmond J. Safra Family Lodge opened in 2005 to provide a home away from home, free of charge, for families and loved ones of adult patients receiving care at the NIH Clinical Center, the nation's largest hospital dedicated entirely to clinical research. For the past eight years, the Family Lodge has served as a place of respite for thousands of patients and families during the most challenging of times.
In addition to their own private rooms, guests are free to use the Family Lodge's many amenities: a library, a business and telecommuting center, a fitness center, a children's play area, several lounge areas, a healing garden, and home-style kitchen. The handsome and tranquil setting is designed to foster much-needed rest and relaxation.
The Family Lodge is a tangible example of how the FNIH supports patients’ comfort and care. Having raised the funds that enabled construction of the facility, the FNIH now works to enhance the lives of its residents during their stay, providing a daily continental breakfast, as well as support for ongoing maintenance and guest services.
