Lifelong learners -- as well as students, teachers, and speakers of English as a second language -- have more opportunities than ever to explore language through the popular public-radio program, A Way with Words, and its website, waywordradio.org.
Wayword Inc., a San Diego-based nonprofit, independently produces and distributes this weekly radio broadcast and podcast about words and how we use them. Wayword also serves listeners through the extensive A Way with Words website, which provides language news, a discussion forum, resources for English language learners and educators, an online dictionary of slang and jargon, and robust listener engagement via social media.
A Way with Words is fast expanding both its national radio and podcast listenership, as well as the program's community outreach offline. At the same time, the program's website is also rapidly growing.
An online producer is needed to oversee all the digital content of the radio show and its related offerings, including website editorial production, a show archive and weekly summaries, an electronic newsletter, and blog posts, as well as website analytics and maintenance, search engine optimization, and active listener engagement via social media. The online producer will stay current with advances in digital technology, learn from the best practices of other organizations, and take advantage of new initiatives in order to better serve listeners.
It will cost $75,000 a year for salary and benefits to support one staff member. We require a minimum of three years' funding to secure continuity of the position and sufficient resources.
