Endowed Chair Center On Gender Equity and Health

UCSD Center on Gender Equity and Health

For more than 500 years, the world’s great universities have attracted and supported distinguished scholars by endowing academic chairs. We currently seek endowment of a Chair to direct the UCSD Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH). The focus of this Chair will be to build UCSD and UC system focus on scholarly research and training related to improvements in the status of women and girls as a means of improving the health and well-being of populations. An Endowed Chair honors exceptional faculty members for their past and potential contributions to academia while also supporting their current work. At UC San Diego, permanent endowed funds created by philanthropic gifts of $2 million or greater support Chair-holder’s teaching and research. Donors who generously endow chairs are not only ensuring excellence in higher education today, but also contributing to the university’s future growth, innovation, success and leadership in the Chair’s area of focus. When you establish an endowment fund, you create a permanent legacy of support. An endowment is created by a donor from a gift containing a legal stipulation that the original gift may never be expended.  These gifts are held and invested in perpetuity by The Regents of the University of California and the UC San Diego Foundation for the purpose of generating a permanent expendable income stream from the return on the gift for the purpose the donor desires. These gifts permit planning for programs into the far future. The endowment can be named for yourself, your family, your friend, your favorite professor, your company – it is your choice. Your endowment will be recorded as “The [Name of Your Choice] Endowment Fund.”
