At the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (DSPT), we are a community engaged in study that is rooted in tradition and provides answers to today's challenges.
"Undoubtedly one of the strengths of the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology is the ability it fosters in its students to dialogue, on the intellectual level, with contemporary society. The faculty is both academically prepared and doctrinally sound." (2008 report of the Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education)
At the DSPT, we offer Master's-level degrees in philosophy and theology; students from all stages of life, from various ethnic and religious backgrounds have found a home with us.
Drawing on our Dominican heritage, we model our approach after the wisdom of St. Albert the Great and St. Thomas Aquinas, both of whom integrated the philosophical study of the world and the human person with contemplation of Christian Revelation.
Our vision for the future is a direct extension of our mission and the institutional goals that we have set for our success.
Located in the hills of Berkeley, California, DSPT is a member of the Graduate Theological Union and partners with the University of California, Berkeley. A fully accredited institution, DPST provides the perfect environment for students to discern their life's work in a small school environment and set it into motion with large school resources.
