Friends of Balboa Park

OUR CORE PROGRAMS

Preserve and Enhance Parkland

We are committed to the preservation of the park's canyons, lawns, gardens, and wildlife habitats to ensure an ecologically sound and sustainable natural system.

Arbor Day Celebration

Goal:  purchase and plant a grove of trees in the park with volunteers - $3,500 for the purchase of trees, invitations, programs, outreach and refreshments.

Canyon Cleanups

Goal:  partner with other groups to conduct quarterly cleanups - $500 for recruitment, outreach, event refreshments

Support Youth Education Programs

Together with our partners in the Balboa Park Educators' Council, we support programs to promote access, understanding, and education in Balboa Park

Summer Camp Brochures

Goal:  print and distribute 20,000 park-wide collaborative camp brochures printed in February for March distribution to city schools, park visitors - $2,500 for 20,000 brochures

Field Trip Scholarship Fund

Goal:  fund field trips for low-income children from Title 1 city schools - $2,000 annual budget serves 400-500 children

Junior Friends of Balboa Park Patch Program

Goal:  fund brochures and patches for organized youth groups - $750 annually purchases patches and brochures

Promote Park Community and Culture

We support park-wide events and activities that promote the Park's historical significance, achievements, cultural heritage, architecture, and natural beauty.  We encourage and support outreach activities that bring visitors to the park and educate them about the park.
